Dr. Timothy J. McNiff
Executive Director
Dr. McNiff served as a school superintendent for 30 years prior to accepting the role as Executive Director of Engineering Tomorrow; his most recent position being the school superintendent for the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New York. During his tenure as an educator and school administrator, he also served as an adjunct professor for the University of Notre Dame, a board member for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee, and has been a keynote speaker both nationally and internationally.

Megan E. Barrett
Program Director
Megan has over fifteen years combined experience in the fields of education and nonprofit management. Prior to joining Engineering Tomorrow in 2016, Megan was Chief of Staff to the Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of New York, the 3rd largest Catholic school system in the country. In addition to administration and management roles, Megan also has experience teaching in Catholic and public inner-city schools in New York City and Newark, NJ. She holds a Master of Nonprofit Administration from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Arts in Education from Seton Hall University through the EPICS Program, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame.

Kristine T. Budill

Kristine has seven years of teaching experience in the areas of engineering, computer science, math and finance. Prior to her role as an educator, Kristine spent over ten years working at a private equity fund that invested university endowment funds and contributions from high net worth individuals in medical device companies. She also served as the Director of Business Development at Haemonetics Corp., where she was responsible for analyzing, negotiating, and managing corporate investments in new technologies. Her early career included a variety of technical roles at ITT Fluid Technology Corp. and GE Aircraft Engines. Kristine holds a NYS Teacher Certification from Manhattanville College, a master’s in Management Science from MIT Sloan School of Management, a master’s in Electrical Engineering from MIT and a bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from Yale University.

Constance B. Chiplock

Constance has spent the tenure of her career teaching in public schools with underserved populations in Virginia and Washington, D.C. For the past decade, her focus was in STEM education and developing and leading the VA STAR program in computer rebuilding and refurbishment for those in need in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Constance started her career on Capitol Hill assisting in the writing of legislation with the Higher Education Colloquium for Science Facilities focusing on funding and advancement for university science facilities. Constance holds a MEd from the University of Maryland University College and a BA in American Studies from Mary Baldwin College.

Monica has dedicated most of her career to support Catholic education in underserved areas in New York City. Monica was part of the team that brought Engineering Tomorrow to the Archdiocese of New York. She earned a BA from Hunter College and received an IUPLR/UIC Mellon Fellowship. Monica is the proud parent of an Engineering Tomorrow student!

Richa has eight years of engineering experience and three years of teaching experience. She has worked in a variety of engineering roles at Northrop Grumman, Xylem and WEC Energy Group. Richa has also taught in two Chicago schools as a middle school math teacher. After having her son and daughter, she led science experiments with her own children along with their friends. Richa also did virtual weekly science experiment sessions with kindergarten to 4th graders with the Arya Samaj Hindi School. She earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, and a teaching certification from Northwestern University.

Milton started at Goddard Space Flight Center as a Pathways Student in 2000 working with the Navigation & Mission Design (595) and Components and Hardware Systems (596) branches. As a co-op intern, Milton received a co-patent for his work on a demise-able momentum exchange system (reaction wheel) which has flown on the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) and Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) missions. In his professional career, he has served in multiple roles in 500 including: avionics deputy lead for the Magnetospheric Multi-Scale (MMS) mission; the mechanical lead of the Navigator GPS receiver on MMS and STP-H6; and, the mechanical lead for the Payload Control Computer on OSAM-1 (formerly Restore-L). Milton has co-patents for the SpaceCube 2 and SpaceCube 3 Reconfigurable Data Processing System. He has also served as a star tracker and inertial measurement unit lead on MMS, NICER, GEDI and PACE, and served as a co-lead, subject matter expert, and study lead of the Avionics Packaging Committee for the NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC). Milton served as an associate branch head of the GNC hardware branch from 2014 to 2018 focusing on new business, new technology, and re-chartering branch career paths. He transitioned to OSAM-1 in 2019 to serve as the Space Infrastructure Dexterous Robotics (SPIDER) Payload Systems and Phase lead, and in 2020 he started serving as the OSAM-1 Space Vehicle lead. Milton serves as the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Greenbelt Space Chapter (GSC) President. He holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University, a Masters in Project Management from Johns Hopkins University, and is completing a Masters in Robotics from Johns Hopkins University.

Mary spent the beginning of her career as a computer programmer and systems engineer, holding positions at Texas Instruments and the Chicago Board Options Exchange. For the past 12 years, she has focused on K-12 robotics education. In addition to being an Engineering Tomorrow presenter, Mary is pursuing a Ph.D. at Virginia Tech in Engineering and Robotics Education.

Travis Sluss found his first start in the technology industry at an early age printing labels for his local community at 10 years old. A few years later Travis became the youngest intern that a recognized New York City computer-consulting firm had ever accepted. Later that summer he built his first computer and his passion for technology was cemented. Following this fervor for all things tech, Travis spent several years working in the music industry producing records, concerts and more for bands like The Spin Doctors. Travis began MacInspires with the goal of empowering both people and businesses with technology and education. He has over a decade of teaching experience in many areas of technology.

Joanna spent the first half of her career as a mechanical engineer with Bechtel Corporation where she designed and oversaw the construction and startup of power projects in the US and in several countries around the globe. She holds a BS degree in Physics from the University of the South in Sewanee, TN and a BME from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Ga. Joanna is also a licensed professional engineer in Virginia. After a rewarding engineering career, Joanna transitioned to teaching in 2002 and has taught all levels of physics courses and a popular exploratory engineering elective class. Joanna also serves as chair of the Science Department and the STEM Program Coordinator for a private, all-girls K-12 school outside Washington DC.

Edgar has eight years of teaching experience in mathematics, physics and engineering in grades 7 through 12. Prior to teaching, Edgar worked for John P. Picone, Inc. as a project engineer and assistant project manager on several multi-million dollar rehabilitation contracts owned by the N.Y.C.D.E.P. He also tenured for Skanska USA in their Underpinning and Foundation Division working on various geotechnical projects in the NY-NJ-CT area. Edgar holds a BS from the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science of Columbia University. He is an NY EIT.

Michelle is in her twenty-seventh year teaching and her ninth year at Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, DC. She moderates the ACHS STEM Nation - a National Society of Black Engineers Jr. Chapter, is the Head Coach of ACHS eSports team and is the Program Director for Engineering at ACHS. She also moderates the M3 Mathematical Modeling Competition Team (SIAM) and hosts an ACHS STEM Panel discussion every Fall. Michelle earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an additional emphasis on secondary education. She has taught Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Spanish. In addition, she holds a certification in Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, Digital Electronics (Circuit Design) and Engineering Design and Development.

Vivek has over 35 years of experience in academics and industry. He started his career as Research Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University. He Joined GE in 1990 and held various leadership roles in R&D, process engineering, SIx SIgma and Quality. In 2005, Vivek transitioned to Regal Beloit Corporation when GE’s motor business was acquired by Regal. At Regal Vivek led the deployment of Lean, Six Sigma and Quality across the globe at over 70 manufacturing and office locations. Vivek has over 25 refereed technical publications. He holds a BS from Indian institute of Technology, Kanpur and a PhD in Materials science and Engineering from Vanderbilt University.

Zandy Wong is a rising sophomore at Johns Hopkins University where she studies neuroscience and the history of science, medicine, and technology. During the 2020-2021 school year, she served as a College Mentor, and her favorite lab is the Machine Learning lab! This summer, she's had a great time creating accessible and inclusive hybrid labs for students with disabilities.

Paul is a rising senior at the Colorado School of Mines. He is majoring in Mechanical Engineering and minoring in Economics. Paul joined Engineering Tomorrow in the summer of 2021 and has helped with developing the wind and solar labs as well as looking into new topics for labs in the future. Paul’s favorite part about working with Engineering Tomorrow is learning more about topics when developing labs.

Lauren Sawyer is studying at Penn State University, majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Marine Sciences. She is in the class of 2022 and has been with Engineering Tomorrow since the winter of 2020. Her favorite part of working with Engineering Tomorrow has been both the experiences of talking to professional engineers, as well as getting to design fun and interactive labs that the students will enjoy.

Gina Brusco is a junior studying computer science in the college of engineering at the University of Notre Dame. Gina has worked with Engineering Tomorrow for three summers, specifically creating lesson plans and working as a college mentor during conferences. Gina's favorite breakout at Engineering Tomorrow is the embedded systems lesson because it involves hands-on experience with both coding and wiring using Arduino devices!

Caroline is a student at the University of Notre Dame in the class of 2023. She is majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in engineering corporate practice. Caroline has worked with us for the past three summers as an intern and college mentor, and winter intern. Two of her favorite things about working with Engineering Tomorrow were developing the lesson plans alongside professional engineers and then watching how the students interacted with the material at conferences.

Bill is a Founding Partner of Global Infrastructure Partners - a private equity fund focused on energy and transportation asset investing and ownership. Prior to the formation of GIP in 2006, Bill spent 23 years at GE, where he most recently served as President and CEO of GE Infrastructure. Before leading GE Infrastructure, he was President and CEO of GE Specialty Materials. In that role he oversaw key acquisitions including those that led to the GE entry and expansion in the water technology business. Prior to joining GE, he held engineering and marketing positions at Union Carbide and was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Co. focusing on energy and transport industries. Bill holds M.S. and B.S. degrees in Engineering from Northwestern University and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, respectively.

Jay has over 30 years of experience in the automotive, aerospace and advanced water technology fields. After starting her career in product development for Delphi/General Motors in 1988, Jay joined Chrysler in 1997 as a Powertrain Systems Engineer. In 2005, she was named Senior Manager and Chief Engineer of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ (FCA) Hybrid Development Center. From 2009-2012, Jay served as Global Director, Electrified Powertrains for FCA. In 2012, she joined Eaton Aerospace as Group VP Engineering and Technology, and from 2015-2019 she was the Senior VP, Chief Innovation and Technology Officer of Xylem Inc. Jay earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mysore University, Karnataka, India, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India, and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Wayne State University.

Erik has over 25 years of experience in various engineering and leadership roles, including 17 years at GE in R&D, product development, process improvement, technical sales, and business management. Since 2008, he has been a member of the operations team at Global Infrastructure Partners, working on business improvement in a variety of infrastructure businesses in the energy and transportation sectors. Erik is the author of 6 patents and numerous technical publications, and holds Chemical Engineering degrees from Cornell University (BS) and the University of Minnesota (PhD).

Alex has over a decade of technical and financial services experience. Prior to her current role developing renewable energy projects for Commercial & Industrial clients at Centrica, she held roles in financial services, marketing and product development in the solar and wind businesses at General Electric. She started her career as an engineer at Kiewit Infrastructure Group. Alex holds an MBA from Babson College and a bachelor's in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University.

Telva is the Director of Workplace Engineering and Operations Solutions in the Sustainable Workplaces organization at General Motors. Telva supports the global footprint as she leads facility engineering, technologies, energy strategy, and multiple facility management strategies. Prior to her current role, Telva held positions within manufacturing engineering and at several manufacturing locations where she motivated teams to rethink the possible in project execution, maintenance, quality, operations, and labor negotiations. Telva earned her BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
